Charles enlisted in the Army at Tacoma, WA
on 20 September 1942. Pvt Huhn was appointed to the grade of Pfc
on 15 May 1943.
Pfc Huhn was listed as
seriously wounded in action on 11 June 44 and placed in the 77th general
Hospital but returned to duty just two days later.
He was promoted to the
rank of Corporal on 31 August 1944.
On 8 October 1944 he was
slightly wounded in action and returned to duty on 16 October.
Cpl Huhn was appointed to
the grade of Sergeant on 4 January 1945.
82nd Airborne Division
Special Order 22 transferred Sgt Huhn to Temporary Duty at Fort Lewis,
Washington Reception Station for approximately 30 days. However on
21 May 1945 he was placed there on permanent assignment.
His military decorations
include the Purple Heart and the bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded
for participation in Normandy assault
