HARRY (BLAIR) INTESO, age 64, of Chester Twp., beloved husband of Josephine (nee Grasso), loving father of Mrs. Kathleen Fickel (Calif.), Susan and Rebecca, devoted grandfather of Dawn, Jimmie, Elly and Blair Fickel, dear brother of Fr. Albert (de­ ceased), Jack and \Ronnie (both of Calif.)  Friends may call at the Gattozzi & Son funeral home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd. (Rte. 306 north of Mayfield Rd.) Chesterland, on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday March 21, church of St. Anselm. Interment Lake View Cemetery.

Grave marker for Harry M. Inteso in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), Ohio.

 

Harry registered for the draft in East Cleveland, OH on 30 June 1842 and was inducted into the Army  in Cleveland, OH on October 28, 1942.

He volunteered for parachutist duty and was posted to the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment which had just been activated a week earlier at Camp Blanding, FL. Upon arrival he was designed to Company G.

Pvt Inteso went through jump school training at Ft. Benning, GA in early 1943 and then went to Camp Mackall, NC for advanced training.

On June 6, 1944 Pfc Inteso jumped into Normandy, France where he was wounded on June 23rd.

He was awarded the Purple Heart for that wound and received the Combat Infantryman Badge as well as the Bronze Service Arrowhead for the air assault in Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944.
