Grave marker for Donald K. Ipson in Section V5 of the Perris Valley Cemetery, Perris (Riverside), California
Donald K. Ipson was the commanding officer for Hq 2nd from early in the regiment's time of formation.  He was announced as the Regimental Claims Officer (an extra duty) on 10 Dec 1943, replacing Capt John J. Thornquist in that rotational responsibility,
   He was then relieved after a month by Capt Stanfield A. Stach.  On the following day he was relieved of duty in the regiment and transferred to an undisclosed location.  He did not return to the regiment.
