Edward registered for the draft in West Hartford, CT
on 25 April 1941 and enlisted in the Army at Hartford, CT on 22
July 1942 and became a member of Company E, 508th PIR.
On 26 October 1943 Pvt Jablonski was
transferred from Hq Rear Detachment, 508th Prcht Inf, Camp Mackall,
NC to Company E.
He was hospitalized on the 184th General Hospital in
Mansfield, England on 18 May 1944 and did not return to duty until
25 May 1944 at which time he was transferred to Service Company and
apparently sat out the Normandy campaign.
On 27 February 1945 he was hospitalized at the 38th
Station Hospital Chartres, France and classed as a non-combat
casualty. He returned to duty on 14 May.
On 31 May 1945 Pfc Jablonski was to the 17th Airborne
Division and discharged on 28 November1945
He was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device
for his participation in the Holland campaign and Airborne
operations. |
