JAMES A. JACKMAN

James "Jim" A. Jackman, 79, of Bainbridge Island, died Dec. 8, 2000, at Messenger House Care Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Redcliff Alberta, Canada, to John and Elizabeth (Picot) Jackman. He graduated in 1939 from Lincoln High School in Seattle and in 1949 from the University of Washington. He married Patricia Dawson on Jan. 24, 1942, in Seattle.

He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He was the owner and skipper of the charter boat "Playboy Too" in Westport. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3057 and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his wife of Westport; two daughters, Janice Brummund of Coronado, Calif., and Judy Fernandez, of Seattle; a sister Marie Moss Rodal, of Bainbridge; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Washington Cathedral. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western & Central Chapter, 12721 30th Ave. N.E. Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125.
