LARSON LEE JACKSON

The names of two Klamath Indian men are listed among those wounded in action in the European Theatre. Private Larson Lee Jackson, 22, U.S. Army paratrooper, was wounded in action in Europe and is now in a hospital in France, according to information sent his mother, Mrs. Pearl George Jackson, [of] Beatty. Larson Lee enlisted in the paratroops June 1943. He is a graduate of Beatty Grade School, attended Bonanza High School and was graduated from Chemawa Indian School at Chemawa near Salem, Oregon. He is one of a large family and has one brother in the service, Roland Jackson, U.S. Navy.

Larson Lee Jackson, 36, native of Klamath Agency and lifelong resident of Beatty, died April 9, 1960. Survivors include: sons, Chris, Gilbert and Billy and daughters, Rosemary and LaNell all of Beatty; brothers Roland of Beatty, Lawrence, Victor, Robert and Norman of Chiloquin, LeRoy of OTI; a sister Caldonia Jackson of this city. Funeral services, Wednesday, April 13 at Beatty. Ward's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Larson Lee Jackson will take place from the Beatty Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 13, 1960 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Rev. Harley Zeller officiating. Concluding services and vault entombment will be in the Chief Schonchin Cemetery. Ward's Klamath Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Based on U.S. Indian Census Rolls Larson was a member of the Klamath Modoc And Yahooskin Band Of Snake (Klamath).

Larson enlisted in the Army at Portland, OR on 11 June 1943 and served in Hq 2nd, 508th PIR as well as in the 551st PIR.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Star.
