Grave marker for Whitman
W. James in the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview (McKenzie county), North
Dakota. Whitman,
a Montana native, enlisted in the Army at Butte, MT on 9 Apr 1943.
Pvt James was transferred from the 82nd Airborne to Service Company,
508th PIR on 29 September 1944. He was subsequently
transferred to Company F on 27 October 1944.
Pvt James was slightly injured in action in Holland
on 6 November 1944 but was able to rejoin te company on 11 November.
During the Battle of The Bulge Pvt James was slightly
injured in action in Belgium on 8 January 1945 and rejoined the
company on 5 February 1945. |
