Application for a grave marker for Hubert
E. Janse to be installed in the Pultneyville Cemetery,
Pultneyville (Wayne county), New York.
Hubert enlisted in the Army at Rochester, NY on 27
January 1943.
Pvt Janse was assigned to Company D, 508th PIR and appears on a
company roster as early as 11 April 1943.
On 27 November 1943 Pvt Janse was transferred to the
541st PIR. He appears to have been transferred again and may
have been severely injured in the line of duty as he was discharged
from Company C, 272nd Infantry Regiment on 5 April 1944. That
regiment had been activated on May 15, 1943 so his transition from
the 541st PIR to the 272nd IR must have been rapid and brief.
Whether his supposed service-connected injury had
anything to do with his untimely dermises at the age of 33 is
