WALTER H. JARMAC

Grave marker for Walter H. Jarmac in Section 4 of the Birmingham Cemetery, Pittsburgh (Allegheny county), Pennsylvania.

Walter, a native of Poland, enlisted in the Army at Pittsburgh, PA on 19 August 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.

On 29 September 1944 Pvt Jarmac was transferred from Hq 82d AB Division Leicester, England to service Company, 508th PIR.  Since the 508th was already on the line in Holland, he remained there until 22 November 1944 when he was transferred to Company E.

Pvt Jarmac was wounded in action on 24 December 1944 in Belgium.  He was evacuated to a field hospital and did not return to the regiment.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
