CHARLES R. JARVIS

Grave marker for Charles R. Jarvis and wife in Section 16 Plot 470 of the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman (Medina county), Ohio.

Charles enlisted in the Army at Clarksburg, WV on 20 November 1942. 

On 19 December 1942 Pvt Jarvis was transferred from Camp Toccoa, GA to Company I, 508h PIR.

Two days later he was transferred to Service Company.  He was subsequently transferred to Camp Patrick Henry, VA near Newport News.  The camp served primarily as a troop staging ground during World War II.

Based on his headstone inscription, Patrick was sent overseas and was wounded. His military decorations included the Purple Heart.
