Grave marker for Harlan
L. Jekel in Section P of the Birch Run Cemetery, Birch Run (Saginaw
county), Michigan.
Harlan enlisted in the Army on 17 February 1943 and
volunteered for parachutist duty/
Pvt Jekel was transferred from the Parachute School,
Ft. Benning, GA to Company D, 508th PIR on 30 July 1943. He
was subsequently transferred to RS 990, a replacement station, on 2
September 1943.
The remainder of his service career is unknown other than the fact
that he attained the rank of Pfc and was discharged on 25 October
1945. |
