Grave marker for Howard
Jessup in Section: I, Row: 1915 of the Andersonville National
Cemetery, Andersonville National Historic Site (Macon county),
Georgia.
Howard enlisted in the Army at enlisted at Los
Angeles, CA on 7 July 1942 and was assigned to HQ 2nd, 508th PIR.
On D-Day, Pvt Jessup was a pathfinder on
Chalk 17 and therefore amongst the first to touch down in
Normandy.
His military decorations include the Bronze Star
Medal awarded for action in Normandy, and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device
awarded for participation in Normandy assault. |
