William R. Jobin

Born in Bethlehem, NH on Apr. 2, 1927

William R. Jobin, Jr. 78, son of William and Mildred Jobin, passed away Thursday, April 28, at Katherine Healthcare Center from complications from a stroke.

Bill was born in Bethlehem, NH on April 2, 1927 the fourth of five children. He was raised on a small farm tending to the livestock. He spent much of his early life hunting and fishing.

He served in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd "All American" Airborne Division and was in the "Honor Guard" in Frankfort, Germany during the Occupation in 1946.

Bill married Peggy Codorette in December of 1948 and moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he sold cars. They relocated to Gonzales in 1953 where he became the youngest car dealer in Northern California at the age of 25.

He moved to Salinas in 1955 and became sales manager for Cochron Ford (on Monterey St.), Ablett Lincoln-Mercury and Irwin Ford (on Abbott St.) and Cochran Equipment Company on Vertin Avenue.

He retired, as a manufacturer's representative for Fabco Company in Oakland, which made lettuce trucks and equipment for United Air Lines.

After retirement in 1981, they often vacationed in Hawaii for several months each year and drove cross-country every few years.  Bill enjoyed gardening, big band concerts and parades and was fond of patriotic music.

He was preceded in death by his older sister Dorothea Adams. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy, and his son, William R. Jobin III; a brother, Arthur E. Jobin of Yerrington, NV; 2 sisters, Muriel J. Brown of Bethlehem, New Hampshire and Anita J. Lopez of Reno, NV, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Private Graveside services have been held with burial at Mission Memorial Park 1915 Ord Grove Ave. Seaside, CA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Steinbeck Library, Main Branch, Salinas and SPCA, Monterey County Humane Society, 1002 Monterey/Salinas Highway.
