Hubert enlisted in the Army on October 26,
1942 at Fort McPherson Atlanta, GA; and volunteered for parachutist
duty. Given the enlistment date and proximity, he was probably
sent immediately to Camp Blanding, FL where the 508th had been
activated 6 days earlier.
Hubert was taken prisoner on D-Day, June 6, 1944 and
was liberated the following year from Stalag 4F + Work Camps
