KERMIT W. JOHNSON

Grave marker for Kermit W. Johnson and spouse in Plot E, Site 1167 of the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland (Multnomah county), Oregon.

Kermit enlisted in the Army at Tacoma, WA on 9 October 1942 and was assigned to Company B, 508th PIR. 

Pvt Johnson participated in the Jump into Normandy and is known to have been in combat during the Battle of the Bulge.  It is unclear whether he made the jump into Holland.

Pfc Johnson was awarded the Combat infantryman badge and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his participation in the Normandy assault and ensuing campaign.
