L. FLANDERS JOHNSON

   Millen - L. Flanders Johnson, 77, died Monday, November 15, 2004.
   He was born in Emanuel County, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served with the 82nd Airborne.
   Mr. Johnson was also a retired security guard at the Savannah River Site and member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
   Survivors include his brother, Winton L. Johnson of Millen and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ida Green Johnson.
   Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 12, Noon, Thursday at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at Garfield. Burial will follow in the Midville Cemetery.
   Active Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Inc.

Grave marker for L. Flanders Johnson in Midville City Cemetery, Midville (Burke county), Georgia.

Flanders  enlisted in the Army on October 28, 1945 and went through basic training at Fort Bragg, NC,.  after he completed jump school at Fort Benning, GA, hHe was sent to the ETO and was assigned to the 508th PIR.

 Six months later the regiment was deactivated and he was transferred to the 376th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion
