Compensation application submitted by Joseph L. Jungblut on 21
December 1949.
Joseph enlisted in the
Army in Dubuque, IA on 6 August 1943. He completed basic training at
Camp Dodge, IA before being assigned to the 1226th Military Police
Company.
Pvt Jungblut left for
the ETO on 4 December 1943 but it was not until 3 June 1945 that he
was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to Company G,
508th PIR. Whether he became jump qualified prior to
this or perhaps attended the jump school in Frankfurt is
unknown. On 21
June 1945, Pvt Jungblut was appointed to the grade of Pfc and 4 days
later was transferred to Company I.
He re-enlisted in the Regular Army on for a period of
3 years per War Department Circular (310-C-S) as of 9 November
1945. and on the following day was sent on TDY to the 6903rd
Reinforcement Battalion.
Pfc Jungblut was
discharged on 26 August 1948. |
