Henry enlisted in the Army
at Dallas, TX on 6 May 1942. As a volunteer parachutist he was
assigned to the 507th PIR for basic training and jump school.
On 16 October 1942 Pvt
Kaiser was amongst those transferred as cadre from the 507th PIR to the
newly activated 508th PIR.
Assigned to Hq Hq, he rose
to the grade of T4 and jumped with the company into Normandy. He
is listed as having been wounded on 6 June 1944.
On 12 March 1945, now a
SSgt. Henry was admitted to the 242nd Gen Hosp Cp Sissonne, France.
Termed a "non-battle casualty" he may have suffered frostbite.
Henry's military
decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead
device awarded for participation in Normandy assault. |
