EDWARD A. KANCIR

Couple to mark 50th anniversary
   Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Kancir of 52 Berwick St., Beaver Meadows, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
   Mrs. Kancir is the former Betty Lapworth.
   The couple has four children, Adrian, Beaver Meadows; Debra Zola, Beaver Meadows; Mrs. John (Alicia) Motto, Hazelton; and Mrs. Emil (Laurie) Maguschak, Beaver Meadows.  They also have eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

   Funerals
   The funeral of Edward A. Kancir, of 52 Berwick St., Beaver Meadows, who died Sunday at his home, was held Thursday morning from the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home.
   The Rev. John Duminiak gave the blessing at the funeral home, was the celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's R.C. Church, and gave the final blessing at the grave in the parish cemetery.
   Pall bearers were Jason and Daniel Zola, Justin Matteo, Dean Kancir, and Adrian Kancir, Jr., grandsons and john Bindo Jr., nephew.
   Military rites were conducted by the Beaver Meadows V.F.W., Post 8225, and American Legion Post 383.  Commander in charge of ceremonies was  Edward Kmetz; firing squad leader, Al Mitcho; colorguards, Steve Pendal, Joe Ragazzi; rifle squad, Joe Shofran, John Mihalochick, Francis Massage, Michael Skreptach, Joe Ziegler, Steve Delman, John Komishock and Joe Tizekker; chaplain, Leo Septowski; and bugler. leo Sabol.

KANCIR --- At his residence in Beaer Meadows, Sunday, July 9, 1994, Edward A. Kancir, beloved husband of Betty (Lapworth) Kancir.  Funeral services Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's R.C. Church.  Interment in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m.  The Rev. John Dumniak will recite the Rosary this evening at 7:15 p.m.

Carbon county, PA grave registration for Edward A. Kancir in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coxeville (Carbon county, Pennsylvania.

Edward enlisted in the Army on 1 March 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.

On 6 August 1943 Pvt Kancir was transferred from the Parachute School, Ft Benning, GA to Company D, 508th PIR but was transferred three weeks later to RS 990, a replacement depot where he was reassigned to another Army post.

Edward married Betty R. Lapworth in Leicester (Leicestershire), England in early 1945 and was discharged in September 1945 .
