HERBERT E. KILGORE

Grave marker for Herbert E. Kilgore in Section Q Site 1740, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver (Denver county), Colorado.

Herbert enlisted in the Army at Los Angeles, CA on 27 October 1942.

Due to missing Morning Reports, the date of his arrival in the 508trh is unknown.  However, he does appear in Company E on 23 February 1943 when he was listed as sick in quarters for a day.

Om 16 March 1943 he was sent with a work detail on detached service from Fort Benning, GA to Camp Mackall, NC, undoubtedly to prepare the site where the regiment would encamp in April.  He returned to the company on 25 March.

Pvt Kilgore was transferred to Service Company on 11 May 1943 and then transferred to the 541st PIR on 16 August 1943.

Although nothing further is known of his career in trhe Army, his grave marker indicates that he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
