JAMES C. KLEIN
Private graveside services were conducted for Dr James C Klein, 62, of 1015 W Grove St, Lufkin, in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Dr Klein died Sunday following a brief illness. He was born in Hopperstown, IL and had resided in Lufkin for 33 years.
He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and The St Louis School of Medicine.  He was a member of the Angelina Co Medical Society and the American Academy of General Practice.

He served in the 82nd Airborne Division during WW II

Wife, Anne Klein
Daughter, Sueanne Callahan
Son, Jack Klein
Four grandchildren

Grave marker for James C. Klein in the Sun Dial Plot of the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Lufkin (Angelina county), Texas.

On 12 March 1943 Capt Klein was announced as the Regimental Surgeon replacing Major Clarence W. Martin who had been transferred.  He was relieved as Regimental Surgeon by Major David E. Thomas on 27 April 1943.

Capt Klein was wounded in action on 7 June 1944 in Normandy but was able to return to duty.

His military decorations included the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
