(courtesy of  Lora Rose)

Grave marker for Terrill P. Knight in the Willows Cemetery, Willows (Glenn county), California.

Terrill was raised on a dairy farm in Willows, CA [about 75 miles north of Sacramento) along with at least two brothers.  The Willow Meadows Farm specialized in producing milk from its herd of Jersey cows.

Terrill graduated from the local high school and was accepted into the University of California, Berkeley.  He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and his updated thumbnail photos appeared in the fraternities' listings for the next four years.  In 1942, which should have been his senior year, his photo and name appeared with an asterisk denoting "*With The Armed Forces".

Terrill enlisted in the Army on 26 December 1941 went through basic training and jump school. It was not until 9 August 1944 that 2nd Lt Knight was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot in England to the 508th as an assistant platoon leader. He was assigned to Company E and was wounded in Belgium on 8 January 1945..
