Albert registered for the draft in Philadelphia, PA on 30 June 1942 and was inducted into he Army at Philadelphia, PA on 28 December 1942

Pvt Knowles was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Company C, 508th PIR on 31 August 1944.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.

Albert submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus on 18 January 1950.  He was credited with 17 months of domestic duty and 19 months of foreign service yielding a $455 bonus award.
