ADRIAN K. KOLKMAN, SR.
Adrian K. Kolkman Sr., 76, of Simi Valley, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was a 71-year county resident, coming from Idaho in 1931.

Mr. Kolkman was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Lewiston, Idaho, to William and Esther Kolkman. He was employed by Shell Oil Co., as a driller for over 20 years. He then began working for Koppers Co., Inc., as a lab technician, retiring in 1986.

Mr. Kolkman was a World War II veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne and the 508 Paratroopers/Infantry Division and was also a member of American Legion Post 339. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and traveling.

Mr. Kolkman is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Adrian and Star Kolkman of Simi Valley and Allen and Debbie Kolkman of Oceanside; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Viola Kolkman and Elaine Cox, both of Ventura; and brother Bill Kolkman of North Carolina.

Private services will be held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, with Mr. Kolkman's son, Dr. Allen Kolkman of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church of Oceanside officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ken's name to the American Cancer Society, Ventura County Unit, 3737 Telegraph Road, Ste. D, Ventura, CA 93003; or the Heart Association of Ventura County, 2500 E. Las Posas Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
