RICHARD G. KRENEK

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Richard ''Dick'' G. Krenek, who died Aug. 14 at age 75.

Mr. Krenek was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Chicago. He graduated from Grants Pass High School and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1973 after 26 years with the Portland Police Bureau.

Survivors include his companion of 18 years, Diane Mobley of Portland. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society.

Grave marker for Richard G. Krenek in Plot Y, 0, 2219 of the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland (Multnomah county), Oregon.

Richard, although native to Chicago, IL enlisted in the Army at Fort Lewis, WA on 7 April 1944.

Following basic training and jump school he was transferred overseas. On 13 February 1945 he was reassigned from the 3rd Replacement Depot to Co E, 508th Prcht Inf

Pfc Krenek was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the Battle of the Bulge, from 15 February 1945 to 20 February 1945.
