ROGER A. LA GUARDIA

Grave marker for Roger Arnold La Guardia in Section 12, Site 289 of the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington (Arlington County), Virginia.

Roger enlisted in the Army  on 17 June 1943 at Fort Myer, VA;.  After completion of jump school, Pvt La Guardia was transferred to the 508th PIR on 23 July 1944as part of the replacements needed following the regiment's loses in Normandy.

He was a member of the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion and participated in the Operation Market-Garden jump into Holland on 17 September 1944.  He was medically evacuated as a non-battle casualty a month later.  By late November he was transferred to the medical facility at Ft. Benning, GA for further treatment.  He lived in the Potomac, Maryland area until his death.

Roger's wife Barbara [1923-1999] shares the grave site.
