Lloyd enlisted in the Army at Fort Oglethorpe, Atlanta, GA on 27 March 1943,

Pvt Lambert was transferred from Hq 2nd SAD* on 21 August 1944.

He was promoted to Pfc on 4 January 1945.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945
