ANTONY V. LAPENTA
   Anthony V. LaPenta, Sr., 82, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Natalie (Carpenter) LaPenta died Wednesday (April 3, 1996) at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center.  He was born in Springfield, MA, son of the late Rocco and Juliette (Parisi) LaPenta. 

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  He graduated from Weaver High school and Morse College with a degree in business.

He was a member of NARFE* of West Hartford and a member of the West Hartford Senior Center.  He was a veteran of World War II and also a member of the 43rd Division Tanks of the National Coast Artillery; and then to the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne.  During the military, Anthony was a member of the U.S. Army band.  He was also in the Battle of the Ardennes.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son and his fiancé, Anthony V LaPenta, Jr. and Francoise Peloquin of West Hartford; seven grandchildren, Anthony III, Joanna, Jennifer, Christopher, Elizabeth and Thomas LaPenta and Valerie Pelouin; a great granddaughter, Olivia Peloquin.  He was predeceased by a son, Frank A. LaPenta.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, 9 a.m., from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, West Hartford.  Burial with military honors in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery.  Friends may call at the chapel, Saturday, April 6, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Donations my be made to St. Thomas Apostle school, 25 Dover Road, West Harford.

Grave marker for Anthony V. :LaPenta in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield (Hartford  county), Connecticut.

Anthony enlisted in the Army on 1 April 1943 but had been a member of the National Guard prior to that.

Pvt LaPenta was attached to the 508th Band on 7 August 1943 and was promoted to Pfc on 1 February 1944.

He was discharged on 14 November 1945.
