Marine Recruiters Wait For Prospect
Ada Officer Asks That Half-Brother Not Be Inducted
OKLAHOMA CITY, June 6. (AP) --- local marine recruiting office, always eager for a new recruit, is willing to wait a while on one of its prospects.
Lt. Leon E. Lavender, Ada, called the marine office from New York to ask that it delay a few days the swearing In of William B. Glidewell, his half-brother.
Lavender, who has been a prisoner of war in Germany, landed in New York Tuesday, the same day Glidewell had expected to join the marines.
The former war prisoner asked recruiting officials to wait until he had a chance to visit with his brother before inducting him. The recruiters agreed --- but they haven't seen Glidewell since.
The brothers are the sons of Mrs. Florence E. Glidewell. Ada.
