STEWART J. LAWRENCE

Grave marker for Stewart J. Lawrence in Section AI Site 321, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio (Bexar county), Texas.

Stewart enlisted in the Army in Providence, Rhode Island on 5 March, 1943..

.Pfc Lawrence, a member of Company G, was wounded in action in Holland on 14 October 1944.  He was evacuated to a field hospital and rejoined the company on October 23rd.

Sgt Lawrence re-enlisted on 10 November 1945.  Based on his headstone inscription indicating service during the Korean Conflict era, he may have seen combat again as a second wound could account for his discharge on 23 November 1951.

 His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
