ROEL R. LEBLEU

 

Roel registered for the draft in Harvey (Jefferson Parish), Louisiana on 22 February 1944 and was inducted into the Army at an unknown date and location.

Pvt LeBleu was transferred from the 3rd Replacement Depot to Company B, 508th PIR on 15 February 1945..

In addition to those decorations listed in his obituary, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945.

He married Virginia Joyce Brown in Harris, Texas on 7 November 1959.

   Roel Royce LeBleu, 94, entered eternal rest on July 8, 2020 in Pasadena, Texas. He was born February 22, 1926 in DeQuincy, Louisiana. Royce worked on the family farm from a very young boy through high school. He was drafted into the US Army at the age of 18. Served in US Army 101st Airborne known as the “Screaming Eagles”. Fought in WWII, earned the bronze and silver star among other honors. Served as personal guard to Dwight D. Eisenhower. After serving, he met and married Virginia Joyce Brown in 1959 and later became a machinist to provide for his wife and family.
   Royce enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading novels by John Grisham, James Patterson and other noteworthy authors. He took great pride in working in his yard and keeping his grass and flowers beautiful for everyone to enjoy. He watched the birds, squirrels, and neighbors relentlessly. Royce took great pleasure in watching sports and attending live games. He was a Crosby Cougar fan until the very end.
   Royce is preceded in death by his parents: John & Mary Le Bleu; wife: Virginia Joyce Le Bleu; Brother: Robert Le Bleu; Sisters: Betty Jo, Addis (Chubb), Gladys (Sissy), and LaVonne. Left to cherish his loving memory, daughters: Sue Gustafson & husband Victor, Cynthia Engelbrecht, Kathy Harris, and Mary Ann McGuire; son: Willard E. Brown Jr.; grandchildren: Willard E. Brown III, Alison Brown Kipfer, Mark Gustafson, Wade Gustafson, Darla Cargill, Christopher Neal Harris, Amanda Lauren Speaks, Hayley Elisabeth Hartley, Dane Edward McGuire, Kirby Ann McGuire; and numerous loved great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren (around 30 of them)!; sisters: Caddie Matthews and Billie Joyce Coussou.
   The family will like to give a Special Thanks to Carolyn Storemski, friend and caregiver; Keith Atmar, best friend, fishing buddy and sparring partner; and Missy-Daddy’s cat who loved only him and despised everyone else.
