WAYNE A.  LEATHERS

Wayne Leathers
Is Missing

   Paratrooper Sgt. Wayne Leathers, son of. Mr. and Mrs. Leathers, of Johnsonburg', has been missing in action in France since June :6; according to a 'telegram received from .the War Department. A' brother, Sgt. Armand Leathers of the 10th Air Force, has just completed two/years of service in India. He enlisted Jan. 12, 1942 and is supervisor of ,the supply base under the command of Maj'. G-en. Hanley.  The elder Mr. Leathers' is a former resident, of this city.

NAZI PRISONER

   Paratrooper Cpl. Wayne Leathers son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Leathers of Johnsonburg, is a prisoner of the German government. Parents were notified Nov. 27, missing since D-Day. Mrs. Anna Eionian of Kane, is an aunt of Cpl. Leathers.

Corporal Wayne Leathers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Leathers of Johnsonburg, who has been missing since D - Day, has been reported a prisoner of Germany, according to a War Department report, November 27. He served with a parachute outfit.

Grave marker for Wayne Leathers  in Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway (Elk county), Pennsylvania.

Wayne was  inducted into the Army at Erie, PA on 6 April 1943.

Pvt Leathers was transferred from Field Force Replacement Depot #8 to Company C, 508th PIR on 8 April 1944.

On 6 July 1944 he was officially listed as MIA/

He ws listed as liberated from Stalag 7A Moosburg Bavaria on 6 July 1945.
