Enrolls At Citadel
Cadet Thomas Leggett. Jr.. of 806 Falls Rd, Rocky Mount, has
reported at the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, and
matriculated as a cadet at this 105-year-old institution. New cadets
completed their orientation week program September 29, and on
September 30 started on class-room work. For the first six weeks
they will undergo the traditional cycle of recruit training, and it
is expected that by November 15, which has been designated as
Parents' Day they will be indistinguishable in appearance and
bearing from upper-classmen. The first chapel services were held
September 28, with the usual special mass for Roman Catholics in the
cadet chapel preceding the non-sectarian for other Christians.
Jewish cadets have special services under a local rabbi in the cadet
auditorium Harold with the general service. Since 1843 it has been
required that all cadets attend Divine services on Sundays.

Army 1st Lt.. William F. [sic]
Leggett, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Leggett Jr., of 1111 Eastern Ave,, was recently
appointed Aide-de-Camp to Brig. Gen. Teddy H. Sanford, commanding general,
508th Abn. RCT.
Lt. Leggett was graduated from the U.S.M.A., West Point, in 1947 and
entered into active service in June of 1952.
He has made 16 parachute jumps and has been awarded the Expert Infantry
Badge.
1st Lt. Leggett was assigned to the 5th Calvary Regiment at Camp [name
missing] from Dec, 1953 until Aug.. 1955, when he was transferred to
the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team.
His wife, Mrs. Patricia Leggett, and their two daughters, Patricia
E., two years, and Nancy D., one month, are with him in Camp Chickamauga,
Beppu, Japan.

(Ret) William Thomas Leggett Jr. of Carlisle, PA, died Monday, June
9, 2008 at M. S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA Born May 23, 1929
In Tarboro, NC, a son of the late William Thomas, Sr. and Willouise
Doster Leggett
He was a retired US Army Infantry Veteran of 32 years serving in both
the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a graduate of the United States
Military Academy, Class of 1952. His most rewarding yean were the four
he spent teaching at USMA and the six years at the Pentagon. Tom was
a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star with four
oak leaf clusters, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Defense
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Combat
Infantry Badge, and the Parachute Badge. He was employed by Carlisle
Syntec as a quality control Manager for ten years. He was a member and
past president and secretary of Rotary Club, Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Patricia Ennls Leggett of Carlisle,
three daughters, Patricia Lockard and her husband, William of Clarksville,
TN, Nancy McGee and her husband Timothy of Mandeville, LA, and Elizabeth
Yuklsh and her husband Michael of State College, PA, one son, William
T. Leggett III and his wife, Christine of Las Vegas, NV, nine grandchildren
and a brother, Stanley D. Leggett and his wife, Susan of Southern Shores,
NC.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008
at St John's Episcopal Church on the Square, Carlisle, PA with The Rev.
Canon Mark A. Scheneman officiating. An additional memorial service
will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Fort Myer
Chapel, Arlington, VA, followed by burial with full military honors
in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. A visitation will be
held from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2008 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral

William graduated from The Citadel, Charleston SC, and then
entered the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY.
1st Lt. Leggett was a member of the 508th ARCT at Camp
Chickamauga, Japan in 1955-56.
