JAY L. LEISTER
   LEWISTOWN - Jay L. Leister, 76, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home and formerly of S. Main St., Lewistown died at 4:50 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at the nursing home.
   Born Dec. 30, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John J. and Genevieve (Gay) Leister. He married Janet McKnight in 1955.
   Surviving are: children, Linda Kay Remensnyder and husband Dale, of Alexandria, Curtis Leister, of McClure, Lori A. Hostetler and husband William, of McClure and Norma J. Wilson and husband Marlin Jr., of Lewistown.
   Also surviving: brother, Floyd Leister; sisters, Mabel Wagner and husband Gary, Darlis Fultz and husband Rodger, all of McClure and Gertie Wagner and husband Larry Sr., of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amber, Julie, Jessica, Janel, Rachel and Genevie; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Gerrick and Jarren.
   He was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas J. in 1958, two brothers and two sisters.
   He retired from Standard Steel and early in life worked at PA Milk Commission and Beaver's Bakery. He was also an auctioneer.
   He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Airborne Infantry. He was past commander and member of American Legion, a member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown Moose, McVeytown Masonic Lodge and Thompsontown AMVETS. He was also a member of the Eagles, Brooklyn Hose Co. and East Derry Fire Co. He really enjoyed being around people.
   A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 12, at Alfarata Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. David Pennebaker officiating and with military graveside honors conducted by VFW Post 7011. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday evening at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham
