2nd Ling was transferred into Company
B on 1 April 1943 and remained in the Company
throughout WWII.
He was promoted to 1st Lt on 17
July 1943 and was serving as a platoon leader when
the Company jumped into Normandy on D-Day. He
was relieved as a platoon leader when he was named
as the Company Executive Officer on 24 July 1944.
1st Lt. Ling was wounded in action
in Belgium on 8 January 1945 and was awarded the
Purple Heart. Capt Ling
re-entered civilian life on 16 September 1947.
