WALTER J. LING

Veterans grave record and grave marker for Walter J. Ling in Section 35, Site 4871 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington (Arlington county), Virginia.

2nd Ling was transferred into Company B on 1 April 1943 and remained in the Company throughout WWII. 

He was promoted to 1st Lt on 17 July 1943 and was serving as a platoon leader when the Company jumped into Normandy on D-Day.  He was relieved as a platoon leader when he was named as the Company Executive Officer on 24 July 1944.

1st Lt. Ling was wounded in action in Belgium on 8 January 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Capt Ling re-entered civilian life on 16 September 1947.
