Grave markers for Walter Lipinski and spouse in
Arlington Cemetery, Brookville (Montgomery county),
Ohio.Walter enlisted in the
Army at Ft Thomas, Newport, KY on 27 October 1942
and was assigned to Hq 2nd, 508 PIR.
Pvt Lipinski was declared a
qualified parachutist on 5 March 1943. His
name essentially disappears from 508th records after
that.
 The
National Jewish Welfare Board has a record stating
that Walter was missing in action. Also
missing are a unit identifier and date he went MIA.
The National Archives does not list him as a POW,
however, so he must have retuned to whatever unit he
was then assigned to. |
