MANUEL M. LIRA

Grave marker for Manuel M. Lira in Section V, Site 4013 of the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno (San Mateo county), California.

Manuel enlisted in the Army ca. November 1943 and was transferred into Company B, 508th PIR on 30 October 1943.

Pvt Lira jumped into Normandy on D-Day and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge as well as the Bronze Service Arrowhead device participation in Normandy assault.  He was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 1 January 1945.

Pfc Lira re-enlisted on 15 June 1946. It is nor known when his final discharge occurred.
