JOSEPH L. LOBOS

Joseph Lobos Is Married

   Miss Adele Martino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Martino, 1724 Lombard street, Baltimore, Md., became the bride of Mr. Joseph L. Lobes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lobos, 339 south Oak street, this city, on August 11. The ceremony was performed in the Church of Lady of Pompeii by the assistant pastor, Rev. Fr. Shaldony.
   They were attended by Miss Alviiia Sommers, of Baltimore, Md., and Mr. Albert Lobos, brother of the bridegroom.
   The bride wore a white satin gown and a veil attached to a crown of pearl and carried a bridal bouquet of roses. Her maid of honor was gowned in blue net.
   The bridegroom was graduated by Mount Carmel High School, Class of 1939. Before entering the service on August 15, 1942, he was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Co., Baltimore, Md. Attached to the 82nd Airborne, he executed two "jumps' 'at Normandy and Nijmiggen [sic], Holland. He also participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was stationed at Frankfort, Germany, with the Army of Occupation. Following his discharge on December 15, 1945, he resumed his work with the Bethlehem Steel Co.
   The couple will reside at 214 south Oldham street, Baltimore, Md., upon their return from a wedding trip to New York City.
  Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lobos, parents of the bridegroom, and Mr. and Mrs. Julian Zaorski, also of this city, attended the wedding.

 On July 11. 1985, JOSEPH L, beloved husband of Adela L. Lobos (nee Martino). Devoted father of Constance Battenteld, Robert L. Lobos. and Joseph L. Lobos, Jr., devoted brother of Albert T. Lobos, Francis R. Lobos, and Charlotte Varano. Also survived by seven grandchildren.
   A Christian Wake Service will be held at the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise avenue, on Friday at 4 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Ritas Church on Saturday at 10 A.M. Interment in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.

Joseph registered for the draft on 1 July 1941 and was inducted into the Army at Baltimore, MD on 7 August 1942,

He volunteered for parachutist duty and was assigned to Company E, 508th PIR.  His actual date of arrival is unknown as all Morning Reports for Company E for 1942 are missing.

Pfc Lobos was wounded in action in France on 4 July 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  He returned to duty on 28 February 1945 and was discharged on 13 December 1945..

 

Joseph submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus.  He was credited with 16 months of domestic duty and 24 months of foreign service netting him the full $500 bonus.

Joseph died in Baltimore, MD on 11 July 1985 and was, according to his obituary, buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery in or near Baltimore.  No record of a cemetery plot has been found thus far there or elsewhere.
