CARL P. LONGHORN
Carl P. Longhorn

   McMinnville --- Carl P. Longhorn, 65, died Friday at home.
   He was born and raised in Hermiston. After serving in the Army, he returned to Hermiston. He studied at Oregon State University for one year. From 1954 to 1986 he was an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. In 1987 he moved to McMinnville.
   He married Margaret Gragg on Nov. 12, 1960, in LaGrande. He collected model trains and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing,
   Survivors include his wife; sons, Martin of Bellevue, Wash., and Robert of Olympia, Wash.; daughters, Wendy Hoffer of McMinnville and Shannon Hollibaugh of Kent, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
   Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Arrangements are by Macy & Son mortuary. SJ, 10/13.90

Carl registered for the draft in Pendleton, OR on 27 February 1943 and was inducted into the Army at Fort Lewis, WA.

On 15 February 1944, Pvt Longhorn was transferred from the 3rd Replacement Depot to Company C, 508th PIR.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945
