NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Merlin John Louviere, age 81, at 1:00 pm Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville with Fr. Rusty P. Richard officiating.
Interment at St. Michael’s Mausoleum on Sunday,[with] a Rosary at 7:00 pm. at the funeral home.
A native of Loreauville and a resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Louviere passed away at 12:30 pm on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette.
Mr. Louviere enjoyed baseball, dancing, hunting and spending time with his family. He will be missed dearly by those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Dugas Louviere; son, Sidney Louviere of Sulphur; daughters, Nanette Poirier and husband Steve of St. Martinville, Toni Louviere and fiancé Tommy Bourque of New Iberia; brothers, Frank Louviere of Loreauville, William Louviere of Erath, Herman Louviere and wife Jean of St. Martinville; sister, Margaret Lynn Keith and husband Steven of Lafayette; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Louviere and Rose Decuir Louviere; sisters, Irene Broussard, Thelma Louviere and Beverly Louviere.
Pallbearers will be Frank Louviere, William Louviere, Herman Louviere, Steven Keith, Sidney Louviere and Steve Poirier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Harrington, Billy Richard and Dillon Dore.
