SSG (Ret) Clarence Lowman
March 20, 1929- October 13, 200

   COLUMBUS, GA— Clarence Lowman, 76, of 443 Camden Drive, Columbus, died Thursday, October 13, 2005.
   Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon at Greater Peace Baptist Church. Interment will be in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. with full military honors. The Rev. Elza Sullivan will officiate.
   Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2005 from 1 until 6 at the funeral home. There will be a family hour from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
   SSG Lowman was born March 20, 1929 in Tampa, FL., to the parents of Willie and Christine Lowman who are both deceased. Preceding him in death was a son, Clarence Lowman Jr.
   He was an army retiree with over twenty years active service and retired from Ft. Benning Golf Club.
   SSG Lowman was a member of Greater Peace Baptist Church, a member of 555 Airborne Organization.
   He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mrs. Martha Lowman of Columbus; two daughters, Martha Tina Pierson of Cleveland, OH. and Brenda (Larry) Garard of Atlanta, GA.; five sons, Barry (Yolanda) Lowman of Germany, Anthony (Carol) Willie (Demetrice) Lowman, both of Columbus, Mark Lowman of Atlanta, Vincent (Tammy) Lowman of Atlanta; two sisters, Mary F. Pedroso and Margie Allen of New York City; two brothers, Willie Lowman and John Lowman of Tampa, FL.; twenty seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends..

Clarence registered for the draft in Tampa, FL on 24 March 1947 and was inducted into the Army on 19 August 1947.

Sgt Lowman was listed in Co K, 508th ARCT on 25 December 1955.

He continued to serve for just over 22 years and retired on 31 August1967 as a Staff Sergeant.
