W. C. LOYD

Grave marker for W. C. "Dub" Loyd in Jacksons Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Jacksons Gap (Tallapoosa county), Alabama.

Dub registered for the draft ca. 1941 but was not inducted into the Army until 14 August 1942.

Pvt Loyd was transferred from the Reception Center. Fort McPherson, GA on 23 October 1942 to Company C, 508th PIR.

Pfc Loyd was appointed to the grade of Corporal on 26 April 1943 and then to sergeant on the 20th of May.

Sgt Loyd was listed as missing in action on 6 June 1944 and later identified as a prisoner of war.  He was liberated from Stalag 3C after the war ended.

He was discharged on 8/22 August 1950 but re-entered the service on 16 February 1952.

His final exit from the Army took place on 31 March 1968.  based on his grave marker he had attained the rank of WO-4
