COLUMBUS, GA— Mr. Robert Lee "Luke" Lukehart, 78, of Columbus died
Sunday, Nov. 14 [2004] at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services with
full military honors will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. at
Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. David Howle officiating, according to
McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus. Visitation will be
held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lukehart was born March 1, 1926, in Haverhill,
Iowa, son of the late Lawrence W. Lukehart and Josephine Helen Lang
Lukehart. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was
a paratrooper and was in special forces, retiring after 20 1/2 years as
a First Sergeant.
Following his retirement, he rebuilt transmissions at
Reams Transmission and later was a security officer at AFLAC.
Survivors include his wife, Cora L. Lukehart of
Columbus; two daughters, Karen Greene and her husband Dan of
Jacksonville, Fla.; Patty Ely and her husband David of Columbus; four
grandchildren, Amy and Robert Ely, Emily and Rachel Greene; one sister,
Betty Jo Fiscus of Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, 3564 Forest Rd., Columbus, Ga.,
31907, or American Heart Association, 1300 Wynnton Rd., Columbus, Ga.,
31906 or one's favorite charity.

Pvt Lukehart joined Company C, 508th from the 3d Replacement
Depot on 15 February 1945.
His military awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge for
action during the Ardennes campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945
