DUNNELLON, Fla. -- George A.
Luperchio, 77, of Dunnellon, formerly of 15
Clarendon St. in Worcester, Mass., a World War II
veteran and a retired public works department
worker, died Saturday, Dec. 30, in Dunnellon after
an illness.
His wife, Wanda (Chojnacki) Luperchio, died in 1966.
He leaves two sons, Michael Luperchio of Worcester
and Stanley Luperchio of Converse, Texas; six
grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in
Worcester, son of Joseph and Carmella (Dicandia)
Luperchio. He was an Army veteran of World War II,
serving in the invasion of Normandy and Holland.
Mr. Luperchio worked 30 years for the Worcester
Department of Public Works, retiring in 1977.
The memorial Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8,
in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester.
Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.

George enlisted in the Army on 16
January 1941 after stating his year of birth to have
been 1921 although it was two years later.
Pvt Luperchio completed jump
school and was transferred to Hq 1st, 508th as a
cadre member in October 1943.
Pfc Luperchio jumped into Normandy
on D-Day, 1944 and was wounded on 2 July. He
was awarded the Purple Heart and both the Bronze
Service Star device and the CIB for action during
Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July
1944 |
