Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years, achieving the rank of Major. He served as a Paratrooper and a Helicopter Gunship Pilot, serving 2 tours in Vietnam.
After retiring from military service, Jim worked for Beverly Enterprises for 23 years. He and his wife, Sue, worked in long term health care administration.    Jim and Sue faithfully attended First United Methodist of Ormond Beach since 1999.
Jim's greatest love was his wife of 36 years, Sue. He was a family man. He loved his children and was especially crazy about his 14 grandchildren. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife Sue of Ormond Beach; by his eight children: James C. Lutes (Joannie) of Augusta, GA, Rhonda Pierce (Phil) of Birmingham, AL, Clay Goode (Kasey) of Ludowici, GA, Jason Lutes (Nancy) of Atlanta, GA, Jeff Lutes of Augusta, GA, Brian Goode (Kim) of Rincon, GA, Brenda Esser of Ormond Beach, and Jamie Wade (Nathan) of Ormond Beach; and by his 14 grandchildren. He will be remembered by many.
