World War II Veteran Albert J. MacKrell,
Sr., a resident of Levittown since 1952, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at
Statesman Nursing Home at the age of 83.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Lynn) S.
Nowicki MacKrell, to whom he was married for 61 years. Born in Philadelphia,
a son of the late Wilson and Bessie MacKrell, Al was a U.S. Army Veteran of
WW II, serving as a Paratrooper in the 508th PIR of the 82nd Airborne
Division. He participated in jumps into Normandy and Holland. He was rushed
into Belgium to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war his regiment
was General Eisenhower's Honor Guard. Al retired from Rohm and Haas and was
an avid outdoor sportsman.
In addition to his wife, he is also
survived by a son, Dr. Albert J. MacKrell, Jr. (Jamie) of San Antonio, Tex.;
two daughters, Carol Hannah (Steve) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Debbie
Krobath (David) of Houston, Tex.; and three grandchildren, Kevin Krobath and
Michelle and Lindsey Hannah.
Relatives and friends are invited to
share in Al's Life Celebration Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Beck Givnish of
Levittown, 7400 New Falls Rd., where services will be at 11 a.m. Interment
will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions in Al's name may be sent to American Heart Assn., 625 W. Ridge
Pike, Bldg. A, Suite 100, Conshohocken, Pa. 19428-1190.
