FRED L MADDUX

Draft registration card and grave marker for Fred L. Maddux in the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery, Tyler (Smith county), Texas.

Pvt Maddux was transferred from Hq 11th Airborne Division, Camp Mackall, NC to service Company, 508th PIR.

After the regiment arrived in England Pvt Maddux was placed on detached service with the Provisional Rigger Company Pool for the 82nd Airborne Division on 14 March 1944, probably at Camp Ashwell near Oakham, England. 

On 31 March 1944 Fred pinned on the additional stripe of a Technician 5th Class.

It was on 2 November 1944 that T/5 Maddux was transferred to Service Company's Detachment #1 as the regiment massed in Camp Sissonne, France following the Holland Campaign.  The riggers had been responsible for safely transporting the supplies and equipment needed to establish the new base camp.

T/5 Maddux arrived in New York City's harbor on 4 October 1946 after a voyage from Bremerhaven, Germany aboard the USAT Stevens Victory.
