Raymond's draft record was updated post-war  in Peekskill, NY, on 24 October 1945.  He enlisted at West Point, NY on 8 February 1941.

On 18 February 1945, T/5 Maguinness was transferred from the 3rd Replacement Depot to Company D, 508th PIR.

He was reduced in rank from T/5 to Private on 7 May 1945, reason unknown.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945.
