JOHN T. McCARTHY

John T. McCarthy, 72, died early Saturday at his Evanston home.

Born in St. Paul, Minn., Mr. McCarthy moved to Evanston with his family at age 8. He graduated from Evanston High School and Northwestern University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

During World War II, Mr. McCarthy was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne's 508th Division. Mr. McCarthy owned JTM Corp., a manufacturing company.

He is survived by wife Colleen; son Charles; daughters Kathleen, Megan and Maureen, and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Athanasius, 1615 Lincoln St., Evanston, followed by burial at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
