WILLIAM E. MCDOWELL

William E. McDowell was registered by the draft board ca. 1945 and a handwritten notation shows he was discharged on 3 January 1946.

 

 

However, this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus indicates that he entered active service on 13 December 1940, a date that agrees with his enlistment record in the National Archives.

Pfc McDowell was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to Company F, 508th PIR on 3 June 1945.  He was transferred to the 504th PIR on 20 October 1945.
